Automated Election
May 10, 2010
The first Automated Election happened in the Philippines.
The PCOS Machines were created by SmartMatics company.
The goverment spent billions for this election.
Nation and local election day.
Though the Filipinos were all informed on how the process would be, still, let's admit the fact that we are not that prepared in this kind of system. Im not saying that most of us are not open to changes but it really takes a lot of time before we could make this system happen smoothly.
If you have noticed, a lot of people went to different school with their hopes to vote in a more convenient way. But its the opposite. In our location, so many people dont know what to do when they arrived. They try to find their names in the precinct but some of them were missing already. The clusters are not very organized. One cluster consists of 4-5 precincts so that was were the problem lie.
Good thing that there are volunteers in front of the gate. People can ask them if they cant find their names on the list posted in the board. They have this excel record in which all of the registered voters are listed. That was were we went since we cant find our precincts and ola! in one click, we were able to find our cluster.
But, the problem did not end there yet. The line was really loooooonnngggg.. As in! The movements were very slow like a turtle. Aside from that, meron din mga etchuserong palaka kung saan they dont how to fall in line. Para silang mga bulate na sumisingit so the line at the end moved really slowly because of those people..
Also, 2 of the machines were broken during that time. Good thing there were IT people to the rescue. Ayun, it has been fixed right away.
We fall in line by 9am and we finished at 2:30pm.. Can you imagine that? Last election, when it was the old system, people did not experience this kind of shit falling in line or whatsoever.. The weather was really humid and there were a few a hinimatay habang nasa linya because of the condition ng panahon.. Good thing, there was a free drinking water.
Kaya, it was really a relief ng makatapos kameng bumoto. Ang cool din nmn ng computer because it automatically scan your paper and designates the votes to the names of the candidates. Mabilis ang processing ng pagboto when we reached the precinct. It was just the line outside that made us really mad and hungry..
Well, I just hope that there would be less to no dayaan in terms of tallying the votes. Also, volunteer people should be paid off accordingly. Poll watchers should get their pay in the right time. And most especially, the next president would the best for us..
Let us pray and continue to askl God to guide us in making decisions.
