In the Philippines, we have 9 days of Simbang Gabi, I believed we got this tradition from the Spaniards way back hundreds of years ago. Up until now, most churches, especially Catholic denomination, are still doing this.
This Simbang Gabi starts at Dec 16 and ends at Dec 24. Some churches do the service at dawn at around 5:00am perhaps. Others do the service at night at 7:00pm like what our church is doing every year.
For this year, tonight was the first time I attended the service. Simply because its weekend. As I told you before, my shift starts at 2pm to 11pm,, so I cant attended the service on weekdays.
Anyway, it was really fun to attend. Aside from the word of God you'll receive and blessings from HIM, joining the game is one of the awaited moments of most children like me.. hahahaha
Like kanina, I joined a game, very funny game and I lose it.. But it was fun. Indeed!
Kuya Rey gave the message since toningh is the night of UMM (United Methodist MEN). The gospel was from Matthew 2:1-12.. About the coming of the 3 wise men to visit Jesus and worship Him.
At the end of service, there's meryenda.. WOW! Pancit Bihon.. eheheh.. Nice! Complete package from food for the soul to food for the stomach. AJA!
Well, today would be the last Simbang gabi I can attended to because of my job. Partly sad because I need work.. syempre para makasurvive to all my expenses though God is my great provided, I still need to work for it, diba?.
So there.. my first simbang gabi was tonight. (Dec 20, 2009)...:)
